Bare Minerals is more than a makeup brand; but a category of makeup that claims to be clean and natural.
With the term “clean beauty” being thrown around by every other company nowadays, it’s hard to define what it actually means.
For bareMinerals, clean makeup means that the products don’t contain some of the more questionable, unnatural substances often found in other types of makeup and skincare products, such as preservatives and fillers binders, synthetic dyes, fragrances, talc, wax, and oils.
According to Bare Minerals, due to the lack of parabens, binders, fillers, and other known substances that can lead to skin irritation, the mineral makeup is more natural and hypoallergenic.
This means that it does not contain substances that will irritate the skin, especially if you have sensitive skin, acne concerns, rosacea, psoriasis, or eczema.
While many beauty brands have come under fire from one scandal or another, bareMinerals seems to keep its reputation as squeaky clean as its facial cleansers. The brand has stayed true to its original identity since 1995 and continues to advocate for “clean without compromise.”
Who is bareMinerals For?
From the beginning, bareMinerals has showcased a versatile and inclusive brand.
Let’s start with bareMinerals reviews for older skin.
bareMinerals has a skincare product for every skin type and seemingly every skin issue: acne & blemishes, dryness, enlarged pores, and sensitive skin. When it comes to bareMinerals for acne, you have several options to choose from.
With their anti-aging, they offer more than ten products that can be seamlessly added to your morning and night rituals. From the Ageless Genius Firming & Wrinkle Smoothing Serum to Skinlongevity Green Tea Herbal Eye Masks, they offer a decent selection, depending on your unique skin care needs.
However, I wouldn’t say that that brand is affordable. I’m sorry, but a pack of 45 makeup wipes should not cost $15.00! Period!
I understand that quality ingredients mean having to pay more, but most millennials and Gen Z’s I know could never afford the products at full price. That’s why trial size brands like Ipsy are so popular.
There are plenty of other clean, affordable beauty brands out there that could probably offer a substitute for every product bareMinerals has to offer.
bareMinerals Basic Foundations
I figured the best way to get to know a makeup brand is how good their foundation is. After all, foundation is the base for your looks, and if that isn’t good, then why bother purchasing anything else from a makeup brand?
First of all, I want to note that not a single foundation on their website has a 5 Star rating. But, I’m a woman of integrity, so I obviously had to try their Original Loose Powder Foundation SPF 15 to give you the most genuine insight.
bareMinerals Loose Powder Review
The bareMinerals website says that this original formula doesn’t just cover your skin but promotes clearer, healthier skin over time. After reading some of the other reviews across the Google-verse, it’s clear that bareMinerals has a strong base of life-long customers who can attest to their promise of better skin.
Personally, I liked the loose powder foundation. The more I buffed it, the creamer it became. It flawlessly covered my skin without clogging my pores or setting into the fine lines around my mouth.
With 30 shades to fit every skin tone, it’s easy to see why it has won a Best of Beauty Award and 11 Reader’s Choice Awards in the last 13 years. The biggest downside is that you only get .28 oz. for a whopping $32.00.
Overview of bareMinerals Features
Let’s talk about what makes bareMinerals a household name in the beauty and skincare industries. (Without me listing complicated ingredients that are basically gibberish to anyone who didn’t major in science-related fields).
bareMinerals only uses clinically-tested formulas for their skincare products. As the originator of clean beauty, the company became one of the first to use natural minerals and botanicals to replace common product additives. Their skincare products are also vegan and cruelty-free.
However, just because a product is made of minerals does not mean it will be a good fit for your skin. Most mineral makeup contains bismuth oxychloride, a crystalline substance that can get stuck in your pores and cause more irritation.
Once again, bareMinerals complexion products are clinically tested to prove that they improve your skin’s appearance, both immediately upon use and long term.
Their makeup products are infused with minerals and extracts so your skin is healed and nourished as you continue to wear their foundations.
Lastly, they feature ophthalmologist-tested products that have been deemed ‘safe’ for contact users. Trust me, no one likes black mascara goop in their eye.
Is bareMinerals Worth It & Does Bare Minerals Work?
A lot of customers who buy bareMinerals claim that the products do work and are worth it. It’s obvious that the company has a very loyal fan base who swear by their products.
In my experience with skincare and makeup, I can’t say that they are “the best of the best.” I love what the brand stands for, and they seem to have a solution for every beauty and skin question. Personally, I wouldn’t go out of my way to make sure my bathroom drawer was full of their products.
What it comes down to is: is the product right for you? Does “x” product work with your skin type and do what you want it to? I’m always looking for a product that isn’t filled with cancer-related ingredients, so mineral powder is a great substitute.

Bare Minerals Review: The Final Verdict
I applaud any company that takes the necessary steps to ensure their customers are getting clean products. And offer a standing ovation to the brand that did it first.
bareMinerals undoubtedly offers a wide range of clean cosmetics and skincare solutions. They have a brand identity and image that are just as wholesome.
I think their foundations are wonderful and love that bareMinerals wants to help improve your skin and not just cover up and hide acne, etc.
I say try a few samples and see what works for you. After all, we’re all unique in our own skin.
